Farm in a Box National

Hands-on, farm-centred learning in playgrounds and classrooms

Our Farm in a Box National programme enables us to produce hundreds of high-quality Boxes packed full of hands-on learning experiences at set times throughout the year and send them out to eligible schools across the country.

Each Box focuses on a farm-related theme. Previous Boxes have included; Discover Warburtons Wheat, Climate Action and Early Years Farm in Box.

 


Farm in a Box Overview

 Key-Stage / Curriculum-linked: Each Box is themed and designed for a particular Key Stage/s 

 Easy to Use: designed to support teaching staff with ready-to-go, out-of-the-box activities. We provide all the resources (except readily available items found within classrooms), activity plans and teachers' handbook

Tried and tested. Farm in a Box National resources are reviewed by schools, nurseries, children’s centres and SEN/D groups. All activities are supported with supplementary guidance and learning objectives addressing: communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, understanding the world and expressive arts and design. 

Delivered directly to schools and groups.  Flexible and adaptable activities. Designed for indoor and outdoor learning environments and have scalable tasks to ensure all learners are able to succeed in their learning.

  • (EYFS) Early Years Farm in a Box

    Early Years Farm in a Box is all about Discovering the Diverse World of Food. It’s a specially designed Box packed full of farm-centred, hands-on, sensory learning experiences to empower children to be confident and curious to interact with the land that sustains us and the people who help us. 

    In October 2022, 1000 Boxes were ordered and delivered to statutory and non-statutory EYFS settings across England and North Wales. A Spring Box will follow. 

    Early Years Farm in a Box is made possible through the generous support of the Ardian Foundation. 

    One of The Ardian Foundation's main objectives is to support childhood programmes, as this period is particularly powerful to increase the social mobility of children. 

  • (EYFS, KS1 & KS2) Discover Warburtons Wheat Farm in a Box

    Discover Warburtons Wheat Farm in a Box is full of activities and resources that tell the story of wheat from seed to bread. It's designed to open the door to the world of food, farming and the countryside and support children to connect with their environment and the food they eat.

    Delivered to schools in June, all activities are supported with supplementary guidance and learning objectives for subjects; PSHE, science, English, and topics related to environment, geography and food. Activities can be delivered outdoors and have been designed to support wellbeing.

  • (KS2) Climate Action Farm in a Box

    Delivered to eligible schools in October 2021 (during COP26), Climate Action Farm in a Box supports teachers and KS2 children to find out about climate change; what is it, why is it a problem and how we can make a difference.

    The Box explores the relationship between the food we eat and greenhouse gases, and how farms have an important part to play in tackling climate change. 

    Climate Action Farm in a Box is in partnership with The Hiscox Foundation
