Welcoming new Trustee, Navaratnam Partheeban
We are absolutely delighted to have welcomed Navaratnam Partheeban onto our brilliant board of Trustees in September 2020. Theeb, as he is known by many, shares in our vision of creating inspiring food, farming and countryside opportunities and experiences for marginalised children.
Having begun his career in farm animal clinical practice, Theeb went on to work for a global pharmaceutical company as Farm Animal Technical Manager for the UK and Ireland before his appointment as Senior Lecturer in Livestock Production at the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester. He is now a farm animal veterinary surgeon and A Dairy technical Specialist for a global animal health company.
Theeb is the co-founder of the British Veterinary Ethnicity and Diversity Society (BVEDS). He has recently been awarded a Nuffield Farming Scholarship 2021, and he is also an Oxford Farming Conference Emerging Leader 2020. Farming is a huge passion of his, which motivated him to run his own sheep flock and to be closely involved in the management of a calf rearing unit. He has spent time in many other countries researching dairy production and working with dairy farmers.
We are thrilled to be collaborating with Theeb and believe that his breadth of knowledge and experience in farming, combined with his drive to attract people from non-traditional backgrounds to the farming sector, is going to have a tangible impact on the children that we work with.
Theeb said, “I am really happy to be working with The Country Trust. It’s so important that every child feels like they belong in the great outdoors and understands the connection we all have with the countryside, farming and the food we eat.”
