An Apple Day “windfall”!

This year's Apple Day on Saturday 21 October was a great success, particularly at Lathcoats Farm in Chelmsford, Essex where they raised a brilliant £600 for The Country Trust.

The money was donated by generous members of the public taking part in several apple-themed events organised by the farm. These included a delicious cake and pie cooking competition, which had over 50 entries, a longest apple peel competition, with the winner creating a whopping 387cm long piece of peel and a crossbow challenge (shoot an apple, win an apple). There were also fabulous apple day crafts to make clay faces from natural materials and a big tree full of cardboard creatures.

All in all it was a terrific day and the donations proved to be a bit of a "windfall" for the charity!!
