These Experience days are designed specifically for special schools to accommodate the learning needs of their pupils. They provide accessible and flexible access to linteractive learning opportunities making them very popuar with mainstream schools as well! Taking place at a local farm, pupils undertake a variety of activities such as hay bale stacking, pony grooming, chick handling, meeting the cows and sheep, and environmental art.
In the past schools have also prepared a range of in-school tasks in advance of the visit, such as growing potatoes, making farm objects from recycled materials and creating posters about farming. Such tasks are at the discretion of each teacher and are a fabulous warm up for the farm day, enabling students to feel at ease within the new surroundings as they have been well briefed. Schools are always encouraged to make use of the visit within the class, both before and after the day. Such project work can always be entered into the Countryside Education Competitions which we also coordinate. Please do get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
